EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
DIRECTV's beachfront property in Victory Park will become the most
coveted piece of Dallas real estate — aside from Cowboys Stadium — when
fans descend on "Big D" for Super Bowl Weekend.
That's where one million pounds of sand, A-list celebrities, NFL
athletes and thousands of spectators will converge on Saturday, Feb. 5,
2011, for DIRECTV's Fifth Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl, presented by
SPIKE HD. DIRECTV is taking over Victory Park and transforming it into a
massive custom-made stadium, complete with a sand-filled football field
and concert stage, constructed especially for the event, which is free
and open to the public.
The game and performance will air live on DIRECTV's The 101 Network and,
for the first time ever, will also be broadcast in 3D on DIRECTV's n3D
powered by Panasonic. Additionally, the game will be broadcast on all of
Fox Sports Network's Regional Sports Networks and affiliates and
DIRECTV's Regional Sports Networks, more than twenty-five networks in
total, giving the DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl its biggest audience ever
of more than 85 million homes.
Everything is bigger in Texas and this year's Fifth Annual DIRECTV
Celebrity Beach Bowl, which has become one of the must-attend events of
Super Bowl weekend, will be no exception. The entertainment world's
hottest celebrities, along with current and former NFL athletes, will
compete head to head in an exhilarating matchup in front of thousands of
fervent fans. Immediately following the game and trophy presentation,
the crowd will fill the beach for a concert featuring GRAMMY
Award-winning Maroon 5, presented by Palladia HD.
The day will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET/PT with pre-game show hosted by Dan
Patrick and Kevin Frazier, presented by SHOWTIME. At
2:30 p.m. the game will begin when celebrities and athletes take the
field. The DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl will be played over two,
20-minute halves and the action will be called by Patrick, entertainment
reporter Nancy O'Dell and sideline reporter Tony Siragusa. The
DIRECTV Blimp will be flying overhead to add to the excitement.
Celebrities who stormed the beach for last year's event in Miami
included Jennifer Lopez (Grammy® Award-winning performer and
actress), Taylor Lautner (The Twilight Saga: New Moon,
Valentine's Day), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Marisa
Miller (Victoria's Secret, Harley Davidson and Sports Illustrated
model), Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Kellan Lutz (Twilight),
Olivia Munn (Iron Man 2), Jessica Szohr (Gossip
Girl), singer/songwriter Brian McKnight, comedians Marlon,
Shawn and Keenan Wayans, Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Big Love),

David Zayas (Dexter on Showtime) and Dominic Fumusa (Nurse
Jackie on Showtime). Super Bowl-winning New York Giants
quarterback Eli Manning made a return appearance to coach Team
Palladia HD and while Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets lead Team
Spike HD to victory. Hall of Famer Warren Moon and former NFL MVP Rich
Gannon captained their respective teams, that included Merrill
Hoge, Daryl Johnston, Desmond Howard, La'Roi Glover, Eddie George and
Mark Schlereth.
